About the Bloom Tender

Hi there! I’m Holly, the Bloom Tender. Farmer, land-listener, chicken whisperer, soil nerd, and professional plant hugger.

Bloom Tender sprouted from a tiny backyard in Oakwood, Ohio, an urban farmstead built with scrap wood, good compost, and a whole lot of heart. I didn’t grow up thinking I’d be a farmer, but the earth had other plans. Once I got my hands in the dirt, I couldn’t stop dreaming of rows of greens, flocks of birds, and land that could breathe easy again.

My husband Colin and I dreamed of wide open skies and soil deep enough for roots and restoration. And in 2025, the dream came true.

We found our forever farm! 40 acres of story-rich land in Southwest Ohio, nestled beside a natural spring, with limestone creekbeds, Miamian soil, and wetlands humming with potential. And just like that, Bloom Tender grew.

What is Bloom Tender now?

We’ve returned to the soil, just like we did back in our backyard days. The land we purchased is stunning… ancient, generous, and deeply alive, but it was neglected for a long time. So we’re starting where all good things begin: below our feet! For the next three years, we’ll be rebuilding the soil by feeding it compost, planting cover crops, and letting the microbes wake up and sing again. It’s slow magic, but the kind that lasts.

Our vision is to cultivate a thriving organic market farm rooted in ecology, not extraction. As the soil heals, so does everything else.

And then…we get even wilder.

After our growing systems are in full swing, we’ll shift energy toward restoring the wetlands across our acreage: planting sedges and rushes, opening space for amphibians, and letting water move with grace again.

This farm is an offering to the earth, and to future generations.

Who’s in the flock?

So glad you asked! We’ve added some fabulous feathered friends to our Bloom Tender crew:

• Indian Runner Ducks (they waddle like upright bowling pins and are excellent slug detectives)

• Silverudd Blues (Swedish beauties with shimmering eggs and gentle hearts)

• Ameraucana Chickens (the queens of pastel eggs and sass)

They’re not just cute… they’re hardworking members of our pest patrol team. Their presence makes our farm healthier, livelier, and a little more fun.

What I believe

I believe the land remembers how to be well, if only we remember how to listen.

I believe in compost, in cover crops, and in conversations with birds.

I believe that tending to land is a sacred responsibility. One filled with laughter, humility, and hands that don’t mind getting dirty.

And I believe that we can grow food in a way that leaves the world better than we found it.

What’s next?

We’re growing food. We’re restoring ecosystems. We’re mending soil. We’re making space for frogs and fungi and fireflies. We’re learning every day from the land itself and listening for what comes next.

This isn’t just a farm, it’s a long love letter to the earth.

Whether you’re a soil nerd, veggie lover, or someone craving connection to the wild and wonderful, welcome. You belong here.

With muddy boots and a full heart,

Holly Pohlman
